Merrick grew up in and has lived in the 69th district almost all of his 55 years.  He is a lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky.  Merrick graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1971 and Northern Kentucky University in 1978 with a degree in business and minor in speech.  After college, he went to work in the Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator's office and has worked there for the last 31 years.  In 2003, Merrick was elected Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator and was reelected to that position in 2006.  Merrick has spent his entire professional career serving the people of Northern Kentucky.  He is known across the Commonwealth as one of Kentucky's premier county officials.

     Merrick is renowned for his community involvement.  Whether it's volunteering for his church, St.Henry, cheering on his son's basketball team, or acting in his many community leadership roles, not a day goes by that Merrick doesn't give of his time to make others' lives better.  Merrick currently serves as:

Hobbies & Interests

     In his spare time, Merrick loves spending time with his son, spending time with friends, and going to car shows.  His dream is to one day restore a Model A Ford.
